A Gentle Goodbye

Because the love you share is eternal.

Hospice and Palliative Care

We will work together with you during your pet’s end of life phase to ensure the highest quality of life available for their remaining time. This may include supplements, medications, or therapeutic treatments to help alleviate discomfort.

Expert Guidance

Our care team is here for you to assist in making the best medical decision for your pet. If you feel it’s time to discuss euthanasia, give us a call and we will offer our support. Our veterinarians are able to work together with your family to assess quality of life and offer support in making difficult decisions.

Quality of Life

A physical examination along with other diagnostics will help your veterinarian determine certain aspects of your pet’s wellbeing, but some of the most important factors to consider will come from what you are noticing at home. You know your pet best.

Things you may consider when facing this difficult time:

Is your pet eating and drinking?

Do they seem depressed?

Are they able to stand up and walk around?

Does your pet hide or sleep most of the time?

Is your pet visibly uncomfortable?

Has the introduction of a chronic medication made your pet stressed daily?

Some of these may be conditions that we can work through to comfortably extend your pet’s time with you. There is often never the “exact right time” to schedule a euthanasia procedure. Discussing this with your veterinarian at a quality of life visit can help ease your mind during this difficult process.

Euthanasia

When you arrive for your appointment, your care team will explain the procedure clearly to you so you can know what to expect during the process. Gold-standard guidelines are implemented to ensure your pet has the most peaceful transition possible. We offer a comfortable room with blankets and special treats, or you may wish to utilize our beautiful courtyard so that they may pass with sunshine and a breeze. No matter what, we are here to provide you with as much comfort, support or space, and time, as you need. Part of loving animals is unfortunately saying goodbye, and we understand how heartbreaking this is because we have been there, too.

Aftercare

We work together with a local pet-dedicated facility that provides cremation services. Heavens Pets offers a variety of options to choose from. Whichever decision you make, you can rest assured that your beloved pet is treated with the respect and compassion that they deserve.
